GB Cadets: European Qualifiers Roster

The Great Britain Cadet National Team is currently preparing for the CEB European Cadet Qualifier in Nykoping, Sweden from July 19 – 24. Great Britain will face strong opposition from the tournament hosts, Sweden, as well as Lithuania, Slovakia and Ukraine with the winners qualifying for the European Championship in 2011. Great Britain lost to Ukraine in the final of the 2008 Cadet Qualifier.

Tryouts were held by Head Coach Will Lintern in both the north and south of England before team selections were made and the team has been working out at both National and Regional practices. By the time the travelling squad of 18 players meet in Horsham/Brighton for the pre-tournament camp the team will have practiced together nationally at Upper Heyford several times, and also will have met up weekly at regional practices in Bracknell, Cartmel, Halton, Horsham, and London. The team will get together in the south of England on July 14 to begin their pre-tournament camp before travelling to Nykoping at the weekend.

Whilst there are some new faces on this years team, the squad will surely benefit from the experience of the ten returning players from the 2009 Cadet National Team, including three players for whom this will be their third year playing for the GB Cadets. Zack Chambers, Jordan Edmonds and Harry Pickup all travelled to Antalya, Turkey where they made their international debut and are now hoping to bring home a gold medal in what will be their last tournament in a Cadet uniform.
