Pat Doyle named Head Coach of the GB Senior National Team

Pat Doyle

Pat Doyle has been named the Head Coach of the Great Britain Baseball Senior National Team. Doyle will begin work in his new role with immediate effect and will soon name his assistant coaching staff along with his 40-man roster for this summer’s European Championships in Stuttgart, Germany, July 23 – August 1.

Doyle is a well-respected international coach who, for the past 12 years, has served as Global Coordinator of the Major League Baseball Envoy Programme where he is responsible for recruiting and facilitating a team of more than 30 MLB coaches working around the world for the betterment of grassroots baseball.

Doyle holds degrees from Fresno State University and CSU Sacramento, and has more than 20 years of college coaching experience (San Joaquin Delta College). He has coached for the USA National Team, the Irish National Team and the California Community College All-Star Team, and is an inductee to the California College Baseball Hall of Fame. Doyle was named the 1991 National Coach of the Year by the National Baseball Congress.

We are very fortunate to welcome Pat to the GB programme,” said Performance Director and former Head Coach Stephan Rapaglia, who led the search for replacement candidates.  ”Pat is an extremely well-respected coach with a wealth of high-level experience and, frankly, we couldn’t have hoped for a better fit.”

Doyle will begin work on Britain’s European Championships roster from his home in Stockton, California. Together with Rapaglia, GM Jason Greenberg and Special Consultant Alan Smith, the new Head Coach will finalise a game plan for the tournament, in which Great Britain hopes to defend its European Silver Medal and 21st-in-the-World standing.

In July, Doyle will join the squad in Germany for pre-competition scrimmages against the Belgian National Team before taking the field in Stuttgart, where game one is against Croatia on Friday 23 July.
